Every situation is different and depending on water quality we can help choose the correct piping material. Water quality can vary greatly between San Luis Obispo, Atascadero, Templeton, Paso Robles, Morro Bay and Creston. Some water is municipal and some is from private wells and each unique water type will react to materials differently.

Yes, Rocksteady Plumbing still uses copper pipe. Copper is tried and trued with a long history and a great reputation. You know what you're going to get and in most water types on the Central Coast you can be confident it will last 30+ years. We only use type L copper, not the thinner type M. Chances are, if your home was built in the 1980's and has failing copper piping, it was plumbed with the thinner, type M copper. We can replace that with new type L and you can forget about leaks for many decades to come.

If budget is a concern, we can also re-pipe your home with Upanor/Wirsbo pex tubing. Copper is the old standard but with rising metals prices, a copper re-pipe is getting more expensive year by year. Upanor pex tubing carries a full 25 year warranty from the manufacturer as long as it's installed in accordance with their instructions by a certified and licensed plumber. Drywall removal can be kept to a minimum with pex tubing due to it's flexible nature. It can be pulled through walls and attic spaces similar to electrical wiring and requires less demolition vs. copper piping. If your water is aggressive, pex tubing may be the perfect solution due to it's non-reactivity with many water types.

Regardless of piping material, you can know that Rocksteady Plumbing will perform the job quickly, cleanly and affordably. We will try our best to keep damage to walls and ceilings to a minimum and we'll clean up after we're done. We won't cut corners just because we think they'll be hidden in walls. That means insulation where it's needed, pipe strapping, etc. We guaranty any re-pipe, regardless of material used, for 5 years.
