  • Water Heaters

Rocksteady Plumbing is well versed in a variety of water heating options. Whether it be conventional tank style, tank-less or hybrid technology, we're ready to solve your hot water problems.

    A. O. Smith can provide you with all of your conventional tank-style water heating solutions as well as offering tank-less and ultra-high efficiency heaters. Rocksteady Plumbing is a listed warranty service provider for A. O. Smith hot water products and can help you with repair of an existing unit or installation of a brand new one.

Rinnai is the largest producer of gas appliances in the world and a pioneer in the tank-less water heating industry. With decades of experience behind them, their products are as reliable as they come. Rocksteady Plumbing installs Rinnai tankless water heaters exclusively and is trained in scheduled servicing as well as repair.

  • Sinks & Faucets

Rocksteady Plumbing installs Moen products due to their high quality, good looks and durability. Moen offers a full line of residential and commercial fixtures for bathrooms, kitchens, bars, laundry rooms, etc. We can supply you with a catalog showing their entire line and make the sometimes difficult and overwhelming decision a little easier.

We also offer products from Delta, Grohe and Kohler. With a wide range of manufactures to choose from, you can be sure you'll find something that fits your kitchen or bathroom and stays within your budget.

We can, of course, install any fixture you supply and will warranty the installation fully. We can not, however, warranty products not supplied by us. They may carry warranties from the manufacturer but it would be the homeowner's responsibility to pursue any claims.

A NOTE ABOUT HOME IMPROVEMENT STORES -- While they sell some of the same brands and models that we do, there are differences (sometimes considerable) between the lines carried at professional trade supply houses and those carried at home improvement stores. Some metal parts are replaced with plastic. Sometimes there are varying grades of product at a factory and the #1 grade will go to the supply houses while #2 will go to the home improvement stores. This is their method of keeping the costs down. This is not meant to bad mouth the big box stores but rather to educate the customer that thinks the products are identical; they are not.

  • Drain Cleaning

Rocksteady Plumbing offers a full range of drain cleaning options from augers, to cable machines and even high pressure sewer jetting. We can choose the correct approach for your unique situation. We use Spartan machines for larger lines for their higher torque. This allows them to power through blockages that other machines just can't handle. They're smaller than most machines in their class so they can get into places others can't. Enclosed drums keep messes to a minimum compared to machines with open cages.

Some times cable machines are the best method for clearing drain lines but many times a high pressure hydro jetter is a better approach. Rocksteady Plumbing can clean your sewer and drain lines with a high pressure jetter with pressures as high as 4000 psi. This machine can clean build-up along the pipe walls that a conventional cable rodding machine can't.

  • Water Treatments

Rocksteady Plumbing is a full service plumbing company but is also very well versed in water treatment. We realize that the water quality can vary quite a bit from San Luis Obispo in the south, to Paso Robles or San Miguel in the north, to Shandon and Creston out east and Morro Bay or Cambria on the coast. Each of these areas has it's own water quality challenges and Rocksteady plumbing knows that there isn't a one size fits all approach to water treatment. We can test your water and come up with a the best solution for your unique water. You won't find this same consideration from a lot of other plumbers but we at Rocksteady Plumbing know how important your water is to you.

We can help steer you through the sometimes overwhelming mountain of products and fixtures as well as offer various design options.

If your project involves an addition, we can help you there as well.

  • Repipes

Rocksteady Plumbing can replace all of your old and failing pipes with new quickly and affordably. Every situation is different and depending on water quality we can help choose the correct piping material. Water quality can vary greatly between San Luis Obispo, Atascadero, Templeton, Paso Robles, Morro Bay and Creston. Some water is municipal and some is from private wells and each unique water type will react to materials differently.

Yes, Rocksteady Plumbing still uses copper pipe. Copper is tried and trued with a long history and a great reputation. You know what you're going to get and in most water types on the Central Coast you can be confident it will last 30+ years. We only use type L copper, not the thinner type M. Chances are, if your home was built in the 1980's and has failing copper piping, it was plumbed with the thinner, type M copper. We can replace that with new type L and you can forget about leaks for many decades to come.

If budget is a concern, we can also re-pipe your home with Upanor/Wirsbo pex tubing. Copper is the old standard but with rising metals prices, a copper re-pipe is getting more expensive year by year. Upanor pex tubing carries a full 25 year warranty from the manufacturer as long as it's installed in accordance with their instructions by a certified and licensed plumber. Drywall removal can be kept to a minimum with pex tubing due to it's flexible nature. It can be pulled through walls and attic spaces similar to electrical wiring and requires less demolition vs. copper piping. If your water is aggressive, pex tubing may be the perfect solution due to it's non-reactivity with many water types.

Regardless of piping material, you can know that Rocksteady Plumbing will perform the job quickly, cleanly and affordably. We will try our best to keep damage to walls and ceilings to a minimum and we'll clean up after we're done. We won't cut corners just because we think they'll be hidden in walls. That means insulation where it's needed, pipe strapping, etc. We guaranty any re-pipe, regardless of material used, for 5 years. If you're anywhere between San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles and are experiencing leaks in your water piping, give us a call at 805-237-7625 or fill out the service request form on this website. We'd be happy to give you an estimate and talk about your options.

  • Gas Piping

Rocksteady Plumbing can handle all of your gas needs; be they propane or natural gas. You may be surprised to hear that we still cut and thread schedule 40 steel gas pipe. In our opinion, it's still the best and most durable gas piping material available. While we might not do it like these guys, we do still cut and thread by hand. For larger jobs, a power threader is used.

For some situations, CSST (corrugated stainless steel tubing) is a preferred piping material. Some remodels and appliance additions it will save time and demolition compared to using threaded steel pipe. We are trained and certified to install CSST so you can know that it will be done correctly and safely.

  • Green Solutions

  • Maintenance Contracts

Just as with other things, your plumbing can benefit immensely from preventative maintenance. Most times it's more expensive to replace a high priced fixture or appliance than it is to keep it in good working order. We understand that owning a home can be expensive but in the end, you'll save money by keeping your fixtures and appliances in top condition.

We offer annual maintenance on water heaters that involves a full draining and flushing of the tank to remove sediment and lime scale that is so prevalent here in San Luis Obispo county. If you get your water from a well, you know how hard the water can be. Even if you live in Atascadero, Templeton or Paso Robles and get your water from the water department, the hardness is between 24 and 30 grains per gallon. A water heater with 2" of lime scale settled on the bottom will have a greatly reduced heating capacity and efficiency. Without regular maintenance, it will begin to lose efficiency to the point where what you've saved by not maintaining it will be spent on gas and electric bills. We can also replace your anode rod; something that most homeowners don't even know about. This will extend the life of your water tank greatly.

We offer scheduled drain cleaning for those customers that have root impacted sewer lines where replacement isn't the most practical approach. There are a lot of homes between San Luis Obispo and San Miguel that have old clay and Orangeburg sewer lines that have failed, allowing roots to enter and cause back-ups. We can clean these lines, removing the roots, with either a mainline cable machine or a high pressure sewer jetter. Differing conditions require different approaches and we have the equipment to handle each type of problem.

Rocksteady Plumbing offers all of it's commercial customers in Paso Robles, Atascadero and San Luis Obispo quarterly hydro-jetting services to ensure your drains are always working when you need them to. This service is extremely popular with restaurants and wineries. Grease build-up in a drain line will slow the flow of waste and eventually stop up the line completely. A conventional sewer machine can't clean the grease (or any other sludgy stoppage) from the line and restore it to it's previous condition. The image on the left is what a grease filled line looks like after cleaning with a sewer cable. After a proper cleaning with a high pressure sewer jetter, it can look as it did new.

  • Leak Detection

  • Pipe Location

Do you have some pipes on your ranch that you can't find? Does your new remodel project involve connecting onto some existing water or gas lines and you don't know where they are? Rocksteady Plumbing as the ability to locate metallic piping that is buried under soil or concrete. Save yourself hours of digging by electronically locating your hidden pipes. This service goes hand in hand with the electronic leak detection that we also do. If you have a leaking water line below your concrete slab, the first course of action is to locate the pipe and then the leak. This saves unnecessary holes in your floor and possible damage to your home.

  • Video Inspection

Why should you pay a plumber to guess when it comes to your sewer and drain lines? Rocksteady Plumbing is fully equipped with the latest technology and that includes pipeline inspection equipment. We use Ridgid inspection equipment exclusively and while it might cost more than some of the other brands, you can be assured ours will work. Ridgid is the leader in pipeline inspection equipment for a reason; reliability. With a number of Ridgid products, we are able to inspect your drain and sewer lines from the inside, to locate possible areas of failure. We can find cracks, root impaction, collapses, bellies and many other possible problems that might be responsible for chronic back-ups. We can then locate the problem area, give you an accurate depth reading and a firm price on a proper repair. The days of guesswork are over.

Along with location of your sewer and drain lines, we can also find hidden septic tanks, pump vaults and holding tanks with our electronic locator. This equipment can locate the camera head at the area of a pipeline fault or can be used to find hidden tanks. We are also able to trace metallic pipes with this tool.

In the event your problem is within a fixture or inside a wall, we also have that capability with the ultra-small inspection camera. The camera head only needs an opening the size of a nickel to enter a wall or fixture. We can then see in full color and take pictures for future use. No need to remove large amounts of drywall and plaster just to confirm a pipe is where you think it is. Again, the days of guessing are over and this will end up saving you money in the end with lower restoration costs.
